Rabbi Ari Berman is the fifth president of Yeshiva University, a position he has held since 2017, where he leads the university's academic, spiritual, and communal mission while emphasizing its Torah values amid contemporary challenges. A prominent Modern Orthodox educator and advocate for Jewish higher education, he grew up in Queens, New York, and pursued his early education at Yeshiva University, attending its high school for boys, undergraduate men's college, rabbinical seminary, and graduate school of Jewish studies. He later earned a doctorate in Jewish thought from the Hebrew University of Jerusalem. In Israel, he headed the Hechal Shlomo Jewish Heritage Center in Jerusalem and taught at Herzog College in Alon Shvut. Returning to the U.S., he served as Associate Rabbi at The Jewish Center in New York City and Rosh Mesivta at Yeshiva University, while leading a Modern Orthodox synagogue for 14 years. Berman is married to Anita Berman and they have five children. He has been widely published in major outlets like Forbes, Newsweek, The New York Times, and The Wall Street Journal, and appears on national news programs. In January 2025, he delivered the benediction at Donald Trump's presidential inauguration, highlighting themes of patriotism and biblical values.
