About
Rabbi Ahron Soloveichik (May 1, 1917 – March 5, 2001) was a prominent Torah scholar and leader in American Orthodoxy, known for his indomitable spirit and contributions to Jewish education. Born in Russia to Rav Moshe Soloveichik and Pesha Soloveichik, he was the younger brother of Rabbi Joseph B. Soloveichik, known as 'the Rav,' and grandson of Rav Yosef Dov Soloveitchik. In 1930, shortly after his Bar Mitzvah at age 13, his family immigrated to New York, where his father became rosh yeshivah at Yeshiva University's Rabbi Isaac Elchanan Theological Seminary (RIETS). Soloveichik began his teaching career as a Rosh Yeshiva at Mesivtha Tifereth Jerusalem under Rabbi Moshe Feinstein, then at Yeshivas Rabbi Chaim Berlin under Rabbi Yitzchak Hutner, where he delivered the highest daily lecture. In 1959, he joined Yeshiva University as a Rosh Yeshiva. He later moved to Chicago, founding the Brisk Yeshiva high school and serving as Rav of Kehilas Beth Sholom Ahavas Achim, a key figure in American Modern Orthodoxy.
