About
Rabbi Noam E. Marans is a Conservative rabbi and prominent interfaith leader serving as Director of Interreligious and Intergroup Relations at the American Jewish Committee (AJC). He was raised in the Five Towns area of Nassau County, New York, attending day school before pursuing higher education at Columbia University and the Jewish Theological Seminary (JTS), where he earned an M.A. and rabbinical ordination. He is the son of Rabbi Arnold B. Marans (1928-2020), a Sephardic rabbi. Marans is married to Rabbi Amy Roth, Educational Director at Temple Israel of Great Neck, New York; they have four children: Daniel, Ilan, Aaron, and Yael. In addition to his role at AJC, he served as chair (and immediate past chair) of the International Jewish Committee for Interreligious Consultations (IJCIC), the official body for Jewish dialogue with the Vatican, Ecumenical Patriarchate, World Council of Churches, and World Evangelical Alliance. He has met with Pope Leo XIV and other global faith leaders on issues including climate change and Catholic-Jewish relations. Awards and Recognition: Named one of the 33 most inspiring rabbis in America by The Forward (2015); Seton Hall University Sister Rose Thering Award for Outstanding Service in Interfaith Relations (2023).
