Nadav Argaman (born August 11, 1960) is an Israeli intelligence officer who served as the Director of Shin Bet, Israel's internal security service, from May 8, 2016, to October 13, 2021. Appointed by Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu on February 11, 2016, Argaman assumed office in May 2016 following a distinguished career within the organization. Before becoming director, he held key roles including deputy head of Shin Bet, chief of the Operations Division, and the agency's representative in the United States, where he contributed to counterterrorism efforts and international security cooperation. During his tenure as director, Argaman focused on protecting Israel's democracy and combating internal threats such as terrorism and espionage, navigating complex security challenges amid heightened tensions. Since retiring from Shin Bet in 2021, he has remained an active voice in Israeli security discussions, occasionally commenting on public policy and defense matters.
