About
Mossi Raz is an Israeli politician born in Jerusalem to Kurdish-Jewish parents. He served in the IDF as a paratrooper in the Paratroopers Brigade during his mandatory service. Raz holds a BA in accounting and economics from the Hebrew University of Jerusalem. Before entering politics, he worked as the business manager of All for Peace Radio and was involved in peace activism. He served as a member of the Knesset for the Meretz party, representing the far-left of Israeli politics, in three non-consecutive spells between 2000 and 2022. He chaired the Special Committee for the Israeli Citizens' Fund from August 2021. Raz is known for left-wing positions opposing the occupation and promoting Jewish-Arab equality. In November 2021, he sparked controversy by stating that children in illegal West Bank settlement outposts should be taken from their parents and placed in foster families, refusing to apologize. Personally, he is married to Yael and is the father of Or and Maya.
