About
Mondoweiss is an independent anti-Zionist online news website founded in 2006 by journalist Philip Weiss as a personal blog on The New York Observer, later relaunched independently. Co-edited by Adam Horowitz since 2009, it publishes news, analysis, and opinion focusing on Palestine and U.S. Middle East policy, including developments in Israel/Palestine, U.S. foreign policy, and the global movement for Palestinian rights from a progressive Jewish perspective. It aims to foster fairness for Palestinians, offer American Jews an alternative to Zionist ideology, and is critical of pro-Israel advocacy. It is a project of the Center for Economic Research and Social Change (CERSC), a 501(c)(3) nonprofit fiscal sponsor since June 2011. Key personnel include Publisher Scott Roth, Editors-in-Chief Philip Weiss and Adam Horowitz, and Palestine Editorial Director Faris Giacaman (faris@mondoweiss.net). In 2024, it reported over 4.3 million annual website visitors, 7.9 million pageviews, and 30,000 email newsletter subscribers. Social media presence includes Instagram (@mondoweiss, 284K followers as of recent data), Facebook (53K likes), YouTube, and others. It has been criticized for anti-Israel bias, accused of antisemitism, publishing controversial cartoons (2010), and associations with figures like those funded by Ron Unz's Unz Foundation.
