Michael David Rapaport, born March 20, 1970, in New York City, United States, is an actor, comedian, and podcast host known for the I AM RAPAPORT: STEREO PODCAST. He attended Erasmus Hall High School in Brooklyn but was expelled, graduating from Martin Luther King Jr. High School in New York City. At age 19 in 1989, he moved to Los Angeles to pursue stand-up comedy, supported by his stepfather, comedian Mark Lonow, co-owner of The Improv comedy club. Despite his New York roots, he built his career in Los Angeles while staying connected to his hometown. Rapaport rose to prominence in film with roles in Zebrahead (1992), True Romance (1993), Higher Learning (1995), Metro (1997), Cop Land (1997), Deep Blue Sea (1999), The 6th Day (2000), Dr. Dolittle 2 (2001), Big Fan (2009), and The Heat (2013). On television, he starred in the Fox sitcom The War at Home (2005–2007), was a series regular on Boston Public (2001–2004), the fourth season of Prison Break (2008–2009), and Atypical (2017–2021) on Netflix, with recurring roles on Friends (1999), My Name Is Earl (2007–2008), and Justified (2014). He also directed the 2011 documentary Beats, Rhymes & Life: The Travels of A Tribe Called Quest.
