Michael Kirk Douglas is an Academy Award-winning American actor and film producer, born on September 25, 1944, in New Brunswick, New Jersey. He is the eldest son of legendary actor Kirk Douglas and actress Diana Dill. Best known for his portrayals of complex, flawed characters in films such as Wall Street (1987), Fatal Attraction (1987), and Basic Instinct (1992), he gained early recognition in the 1970s as Inspector Steve Keller in the television series The Streets of San Francisco (1972-1976). Douglas transitioned to producing, co-founding Douglas/Reuther Productions and earning a Best Picture Oscar for One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest (1975). Throughout his career, he has amassed numerous accolades including two Academy Awards (Best Actor for Wall Street and Best Picture as producer), a Primetime Emmy, five Golden Globes, the Cecil B. DeMille Award, and the AFI Life Achievement Award. Beyond entertainment, he has engaged in Jewish philanthropy and pro-Israel advocacy.
