About
The Massachusetts Port Authority (Massport) is an independent public authority (quasi-state agency) created by the Massachusetts General Court in 1956 to develop, promote, and manage airports, seaports, and related facilities. It oversees Logan International Airport (BOS), Laurence G. Hanscom Field (BED), Worcester Regional Airport (ORH, operations assumed June 22, 2010), and the Port of Boston, including Paul W. Conley Terminal for container operations, Flynn Cruiseport Boston for cruise operations, and additional maritime assets such as the Boston Fish Pier, Boston Autoport, shipyards, marinas, and waterfront real estate/parks. Massport provides shuttle services including the Massport Shuttle and Logan Express, and supports the MBTA Silver Line. It employs the Massport Police and Fire Rescue, and coordinates with State Police Troop F for security. Operations and capital improvements are funded without state tax dollars. Its mission is 'Connecting Massachusetts and New England to the world safely, securely, and efficiently.' Headquarters are located at the Logan Office Center in East Boston.
