About
Mark Cohen is a highly experienced trial lawyer specializing in white-collar criminal defense, government investigations, and complex commercial litigation. A partner in the Litigation Department at Cohen & Gresser LLP since 2007, he previously served as an Assistant United States Attorney in the Criminal Division of the U.S. Attorney's Office for the Southern District of New York from 1994 to 2007. During his tenure as a federal prosecutor, Cohen handled numerous high-stakes cases involving securities and accounting fraud, money laundering, tax evasion, public corruption, and organized crime, trying over 25 cases to verdict and securing significant convictions. Before entering government service, Cohen was an associate in the Litigation Department at Davis Polk & Wardwell from 1993 to 1994. His dual perspective as both prosecutor and defense counsel has made him a sought-after attorney for clients facing regulatory scrutiny from agencies like the SEC, DOJ, and CFTC, including serving as lead defense counsel for Sam Bankman-Fried. Cohen is admitted to practice in New York and before various federal courts, and he maintains an active role in legal education through speaking engagements and publications on white-collar topics.
