About
The Manning Centre for Building Democracy was a Canadian conservative think tank and political advocacy organization founded in 2005 by Preston Manning, former leader of the Reform Party. It operated as a 'do-tank' focused on practical advocacy, education, training, and networking for right-wing activists, politicians, and thought leaders, rather than traditional policy research. The organization gained prominence for hosting the annual Manning Networking Conference (MNC), which brought together conservative influencers, policymakers, and grassroots activists to discuss issues like fiscal conservatism, free markets, and limited government. It maintained close institutional ties with Ezra Levant, founder of Rebel News, and oversaw the for-profit Manning Foundation, which conducted research to support conservative initiatives. The Centre was instrumental in building networks within Canada's right-wing ecosystem and fostering alliances for conservative causes. In recent years, it underwent rebranding and is now known as the Canada Strong and Free Network, continuing its mission from its base in Calgary, Alberta, while maintaining its commitment to conservative values and its historical role in shaping conservative discourse in Canada.
