About
Larry Ray (born November 16, 1959), also known as Lawrence Ray or Lawrence Grecco, is an American convicted felon, sex trafficker, extortionist, and cult leader who orchestrated a long-running coercive sex trafficking, forced labor, and abuse scheme from 2010 to 2018. Operating under the guise of a self-help group, he exploited students from Sarah Lawrence College in Bronxville, New York, forcing them into prostitution, recording sexual acts for extortion, and subjecting them to psychological and physical abuse. Prior to this scheme, Ray was a restaurateur and nightclub owner in New Jersey in the 1980s (owning Club Malibu and JJ Rockers in Scotch Plains), where he networked with politicians and befriended future NYPD Commissioner Bernard Kerik, serving as best man at Kerik's 1998 wedding. He also acted as an FBI informant in a securities fraud investigation and served prison time for securities fraud before 2010. His crimes were exposed in 2019-2020 media investigations, leading to his 2020 arrest, 2023 conviction on all counts (including sex trafficking, extortion, conspiracy, and money laundering), and a 60-year prison sentence. The case received widespread attention, including the HBO Max documentary 'Stolen Youth: Inside the Cult at Sarah Lawrence.'
