Larry W. Nichols (1947–2020) was a prominent American businessman and geologist who made significant contributions to the oil and gas industry through his long tenure at Devon Energy Corporation. As Executive Vice President and Chief Discovery Officer, he was a major player in Oklahoma's oil and gas industry, overseeing Devon Energy's growth from a small independent producer to one of the largest oil and gas companies in North America. Based in Oklahoma City, Nichols focused on exploration and discovery efforts, playing a key role in establishing Devon's reputation in the Permian Basin, Barnett Shale, and other prolific regions.
