About
L Brands, Inc. (formerly The Limited, Inc. and Limited Brands, Inc.) was an American fashion retailer founded by Leslie 'Les' Wexner in 1963 and based in Columbus, Ohio. It began as a single clothing store and grew into a Fortune 500 conglomerate that dominated the specialty retail market for decades, owning and operating major brands including Victoria's Secret, Bath & Body Works, Abercrombie & Fitch, Express, and Henri Bendel. In its later years, the company faced significant scrutiny due to Wexner's close financial and personal ties to sex offender Jeffrey Epstein, who managed Wexner's fortune and held broad power of attorney, as well as investigations into a 'toxic culture' of misogyny and harassment at Victoria's Secret and declining sales. In 2021, under Wexner's founding vision, L Brands underwent major restructuring: it spun off Victoria's Secret & Co. into an independent public company and rebranded the remaining entity as Bath & Body Works, Inc., effectively ceasing to exist as a conglomerate.
