About
Kyle Shideler is a senior researcher and Director of Homeland Security and Counterterrorism at the Center for Security Policy (CSP), where he joined in February 2020 and also serves as Director of the Threat Information Office. Prior to CSP, he worked for several organizations involved with Middle East and terrorism policy since 2006. He specializes in domestic threats to the U.S. homeland, including Islamist groups operating in the United States, their history, doctrine, and impact, as well as antifa and other extremist movements. Shideler has briefed senior U.S. government personnel, Members of Congress, federal, state, and local law enforcement officers, and testified before the U.S. Senate Judiciary Committee Subcommittee on the Constitution and the Canadian Senate Standing Committee on National Security and Defense. He has worked closely with federal prosecutors on domestic terrorism cases and served as an expert witness in federal terrorism trials, including the 2026 Prairieland Detention Center case involving antifa-linked protesters, where he testified on antifa and reportedly assisted in drafting the indictment. His publications include Modern Minutemen: Vital Considerations to Secure America’s States in the 21st Century (2025), Understanding Black Identity Extremism: Considerations for Law Enforcement (2023), editor of Unmasking Antifa: Five Perspectives on a Growing Threat (2020), and contributing author to Saudi Arabia and the Global Islamic Terrorist Network (Palgrave, 2011). His writing has appeared in The Federalist, The Hill, FoxNews.com, Claremont Review of Books, and others, and he has appeared on Fox News Business, Newsmax, NTD News, and One America News. Shideler has faced criticism from outlets like The Intercept, The Guardian, and Talking Points Memo for his affiliation with CSP, described as a 'rightwing,' 'far-right,' or 'Islamophobic' think tank, particularly in the context of his expert testimony in antifa trials under the Trump administration. Personally, he married Louise Gebel in May 2019 at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Alexandria, Virginia. He is active on social media at X/Twitter: @ShidelerK.
