About
Kert Davies is a seasoned climate activist, researcher, and media spokesperson with nearly 30 years of experience in corporate accountability and environmental advocacy, primarily based in the Washington, DC area. He began his career as a researcher at the Environmental Working Group and later served as Science Policy Director at Ozone Action. From 2000 to 2013, he was Research Director at Greenpeace U.S., where he compiled data using tax records to investigate and expose the funding of anti-climate groups and the influence of fossil fuel industries on climate policy and denial efforts. Under his leadership, Greenpeace developed notable initiatives such as ExxonSecrets.org, PolluterWatch.org, StopGreenwash.org, and PolluterHarmony, which tracked corporate funding of climate skeptics and highlighted greenwashing and pollution impacts.
After leaving Greenpeace, Davies founded the Climate Investigations Center to continue uncovering climate deception and influence networks. He later became Research Director at the Center for Climate Integrity, focusing on litigation and research to hold polluters accountable. Davies has conducted investigations into organizations like the Heartland Institute and their role in promoting climate misinformation. His expertise also extends to media contributions, including roles as additional crew or researcher on documentaries such as "The White House Effect" (2006), "The Billionaires' Tea Party" (2011), and "The Campaign Against the Climate Science" (2013).
Throughout his career, Davies has prioritized transparency in corporate and political influence on environmental issues, particularly related to energy and climate policy. His work has been instrumental in mapping networks within the fossil fuel sector and advocating for stronger climate action.
