About
Kay Inhofe, née Kirkpatrick, is the longtime wife of former U.S. Senator James 'Jim' Inhofe (R-OK). Born in 1936 to parents Kirkpatrick and Jesse Marie Crosbie Kirkpatrick, her family relocated from Des Moines, Iowa, to Tulsa, Oklahoma, in 1942, settling near the Inhofe family. She met Jim as a child after their families became neighbors. They married and built a family together, with Kay playing a supportive role in his extensive political career spanning local, state, and federal levels, including his tenure as a U.S. Senator from 1994 until his retirement in 2023. She has been actively involved in his political campaigns and public life, often accompanying him on official trips and events, while maintaining a low public profile focused on family and community involvement in Oklahoma. Kay participated in initiatives supporting military families, such as a 2018 meet-and-greet at Yokota Air Base in Japan with Oklahoma service members. Following Jim's death on July 9, 2024, after a stroke, Kay continues to reside in Tulsa, embodying the enduring partnership that underpinned his conservative political legacy in the state. No major public controversies or independent professional endeavors are prominently documented in available records, with her influence primarily tied to her role as a political spouse.
