Joyce Wilkins Pope (1929-2014) was a prominent North Carolina philanthropist. She was the mother of Art Pope (born 1956 in Fayetteville) and John William Pope Jr. (1950-2004). She graduated from Fayetteville High School in 1947 and worked at Highsmith Hospital in Fayetteville prior to her marriage to John William Pope on May 14, 1949. The family lived in Fuquay-Varina during Art's early childhood before relocating to Raleigh in the early 1960s. Her obituary was published in The News & Observer.
