Joy Horowitz is the daughter of David Horowitz and a Pulitzer Prize-nominated investigative journalist, reporter, producer, author, and teacher specializing in environmental issues. She received a Pulitzer nomination for a story on air pollution and earned a fellowship for environmental journalism. She graduated from Harvard University cum laude in 1975. Her career includes roles as a copy girl, sports writer, and investigative reporter for the Los Angeles Herald-Examiner; investigative producer at the local CBS-TV news station in Los Angeles; feature writer for national publications; and freelance contributor to The New Yorker, Los Angeles magazine, and others. She was also a former staff writer for The New York Times and The Los Angeles Times. Her notable works include The Poisoning of an American High School, Parts Per Million: The Poisoning of Beverly Hills High School, and Tessie and Pearlie: A Granddaughter's Story. She resides in Santa Monica, California, and is self-employed.
