Master Sergeant Jeff Prosperie is a renowned percussionist, snare drum champion, and U.S. Military Academy graduate from Thibodaux, Louisiana. He enlisted in the U.S. Army in 2006 at age 40 after an accomplished civilian music career and was assigned to the West Point Band as section leader and principal drummer in the Hellcats drumline since December 2006. Promoted to Sergeant First Class by 2015 and later to Master Sergeant, he is the only individual to win the 'Triple Crown' of snare drum competitions: Drum Corps International (DCI), Drum Corps Associates (DCA), and Percussive Arts Society (PAS). Inducted into the World Drum Corps Hall of Fame and Louisiana Percussion Circuit Hall of Fame, he serves on the PAS Board of Advisors and judges major events for DCI and Winter Guard International (WGI). His music career includes serving as principal percussionist for the Baton Rouge Symphony Orchestra (pre-2006), Director of Percussion Studies at the University of Louisiana-Lafayette (pre-2006), percussion designer and caption head for the Phantom Regiment Drum and Bugle Corps (World Champions), and percussion instructor at the University of North Texas Cadets (National Drumline Champions) and Louisiana State University. He is endorsed by Pearl/Adams, Sabian, Innovative Percussion, Evans, and Loyal Drums. In 2015, as a Sergeant First Class, he sued Fox News host Pete Hegseth over an axe-throwing injury sustained during a promotional event on a live Fox News broadcast. Married with five children, including son Staff Sgt. Jeffrey Prosperie Jr., also a West Point Band Hellcats member since 2023 and international snare drum champion, he enjoys outdoor activities with family and resides in West Point, New York.
