Jason Edwin Chaffetz (born March 26, 1967) is an American retired politician, former college football player, and business executive. He served as the U.S. Representative for Utah's 3rd congressional district from 2009 until his resignation in 2017, and chaired the House Committee on Oversight and Government Reform from 2015 to 2017. Prior to Congress, he had a 16-year career in the local business community, executive branch experience in the Utah State government, served on the Highland City planning commission, and chaired the Utah National Guard adjutant general review. In 2007, he announced his run for Congress against incumbent Chris Cannon, winning the Republican nomination and the general election. After resigning from Congress, Chaffetz joined Fox News as a contributor and is involved in media as a producer and writer for projects like 'Freshman Year' (2009) and appearances on 'Fox Across America w/ Jimmy Failla' (2020) and 'Fox News Live' (2000). He is currently a Senior Adviser at American Global Strategies LLC. Chaffetz has been married to Julie Johnson since February 22, 1991.
