Janet Huckabee (née Janet McCain) is an American politician and public figure, primarily known as the wife of former Arkansas Governor and two-time Republican presidential candidate Mike Huckabee. She is also the mother of Sarah Huckabee Sanders, the current and first female Governor of Arkansas, and sons David and John Mark Huckabee. She was born in Pine Bluff, Arkansas. She has worked as a television reporter and served in various roles supporting her husband's political career. She served as the First Lady of Arkansas from July 1996 to January 2007, during which time she oversaw a significant remodel of the Arkansas Governor's Mansion, including the addition of the Grand Hall ballroom. In 2002, she ran as the Republican nominee for Arkansas Secretary of State, though she was ultimately unsuccessful. A staunch conservative and active participant in Republican politics, she has consistently campaigned alongside her husband and daughter. She attended Ouachita Baptist University and has been a prominent figure in conservative Christian circles, reflecting her Baptist faith. Following her husband's governorship, she and Mike Huckabee have primarily resided in Florida.
