About
James Colbert (Jim Colbert) is a veteran neoconservative strategist, nonprofit executive, and strategic policy analyst with nearly four decades of experience in the nonprofit and foreign policy sectors. He has deep roots in U.S.-Israel security advocacy and veterans' support initiatives. He served for over two decades at the Jewish Institute for National Security Affairs (JINSA) in Washington, D.C., holding roles including Policy Director, Communications Director, External Affairs Director, and Director of Projects, where he was a key architect of the organization's hawkish pro-Israel stances. In these capacities, he authored policy statements and strategic analyses on Middle Eastern security issues, including U.S.-Egypt military relations and missile defense cooperation, contributed to the organization's Journal of International Security Affairs as Deputy Editor, and played a key role in educating U.S. defense leaders on Israel's strategic importance. Notably, he was a participant in the 1996 study group that produced the influential and controversial neoconservative document 'A Clean Break: A New Strategy for Securing the Realm' for Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, advocating for regime change in Iraq and a hardline approach to regional threats. Following his tenure at JINSA, Colbert transitioned to veterans' advocacy, becoming Executive Director of Heroes Linked (formerly the MVAT Foundation), a national 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization based in Los Angeles that provides career mentoring, professional development, home repair services, and networking for U.S. military veterans, transitioning service members, military spouses, and Gold Star families through innovative platforms like the proprietary Heroes Linked web and mobile app. Under his leadership, the organization rebranded as Heroes Linked to better reflect its national focus on connecting veterans with civilian mentors. Outside of his professional career, Colbert serves as a volunteer in the California State Guard and the California Cadet Corps, specializing in public affairs. He holds an Executive Certificate in Nonprofit Management from Georgetown University's McCourt School of Public Policy and has demonstrated elementary proficiency in Spanish and Hebrew.
