About
The International Centre for the Study of Radicalisation (ICSR) is a prominent academic research center based at King's College London, specializing in the study of political radicalization, terrorism, and violent extremism. Established as a first-of-its-kind global partnership, it was founded through a collaboration between King's College London, the University of Pennsylvania, the Interdisciplinary Center (IDC) Herzliya in Israel, and the Regional Centre on Conflict Prevention in Jordan. The centre is recognized for its data-driven research, particularly its pioneering work in tracking foreign fighters in the Syrian Civil War and monitoring jihadist activity on social media platforms. ICSR serves as a key bridge between academia and policymaking, frequently advising the UK government, the European Union, and United Nations bodies on counter-terrorism strategies. Its research portfolio covers a wide range of topics, including far-right extremism, the role of women in militant groups, and the effectiveness of deradicalization programs. The centre's leadership often provides expert testimony to parliamentary and congressional committees, shaping international discourse on security and preventing violent extremism (PVE). Additionally, ICSR has partnered on the Resolving the Detainee Crisis Initiative.
