About
H.R. 609 (116th Congress, 2019-2020) is the Small Business Mergers, Acquisitions, Sales, and Brokerage Simplification Act of 2019. It directs the Small Business Administration (SBA) to establish a simplified approval process for broker-dealers registered with the SEC and FINRA to facilitate mergers, acquisitions, sales, and brokerage of small businesses, with the purpose of reducing regulatory burdens on small business transactions and making it easier for owners to sell or transfer their businesses. The bill was reported out of the House Committee on Small Business on May 23, 2019, by a unanimous vote of 100-0 but did not receive a floor vote and did not become law. Note: Existing database incorrectly identifies this bill as a resolution condemning antisemitism; that description applies to a different bill (H.Res. 246).
