Greta Conway Van Susteren, born June 11, 1954, in Appleton, Wisconsin, is a veteran American journalist, lawyer, and television news anchor. A graduate of the University of Wisconsin with a Bachelor's degree with Distinction in Economics (1976) and Georgetown University Law Center, she began her career as a criminal defense and civil trial lawyer before transitioning to television as a legal analyst on CNN. She co-hosted 'Burden of Proof' with Roger Cossack from 1994 to 2002, gaining prominence for coverage of trials including the William Kennedy Smith case (1991) and the O.J. Simpson murder trial. Van Susteren hosted Fox News's 'On the Record w/ Greta Van Susteren' for 14 years from 2002 to 2016, then briefly hosted 'For the Record with Greta' on MSNBC for six months in 2017. Since June 14, 2022, she has been hosting 'The Record with Greta Van Susteren' on Newsmax TV. In 2016, Forbes ranked her as the 94th most powerful woman in the world, up from 99th in 2015.
