Gregory Paul Walden, commonly known as Greg Walden, is an American Republican politician who served as the U.S. Representative for Oregon's 2nd congressional district from 1999 to 2023. Born on January 10, 1957, in The Dalles, Oregon, Walden is the son of Paul E. Walden, a three-term Oregon State Representative. He grew up in a politically connected family and pursued a career in broadcasting before entering politics, owning and operating radio stations in Oregon. Walden earned a Bachelor of Arts in Business Administration from the University of Oregon in 1979. Prior to his congressional service, he served in the Oregon House of Representatives from 1995 to 1997, representing District 56.

During his time in Congress, Walden became a prominent figure in the Republican Party, particularly as the chair of the House Energy and Commerce Committee from 2017 to 2019. He focused on issues such as energy policy, telecommunications, and healthcare, often aligning with industry interests in his district, which includes rural eastern Oregon and parts of the Cascade Range. Walden announced in October 2019 that he would not seek reelection in 2020, citing a desire to spend more time with family after over two decades in Washington.
