About
The Golani Brigade is an elite infantry brigade in the Israel Defense Forces (IDF), subordinated to the 36th Division and traditionally associated with the Northern Command. It is one of the five regular infantry brigades of the IDF, alongside the Paratroopers Brigade, Nahal Brigade, Givati Brigade, and Kfir Brigade. Known for its frontline combat roles, it is one of the most highly decorated units in the IDF. Its symbol is a green olive tree on a yellow background, and soldiers wear a brown beret. The brigade consists of five battalions, including two original ones and one transferred from the Givati Brigade (51st Battalion).
