Robert Glenn Hubbard (born September 4, 1958) is an American economist specializing in tax and fiscal policy. He earned his BA and BS degrees summa cum laude from the University of Central Florida and his AM and PhD in economics from Harvard University. Hubbard served as Dean of Columbia Business School from 2004 to 2019 and continues as the Russell L. Carson Professor of Finance and Economics there. He has held significant government roles including Deputy Assistant Secretary for Tax Policy at the U.S. Treasury (1991-1993) and Chairman of the Council of Economic Advisers (2001-2003) under President George W. Bush. Currently, he is a visiting scholar at the American Enterprise Institute (AEI), where he has directed the Program on Tax Policy. Hubbard is affiliated with the National Bureau of Economic Research and is recognized for bridging theoretical economics with practical policy applications, advocating for centrist economic policies and support systems to help individuals navigate economic changes.
