Gilad Alper is an Israeli free-market economist and libertarian advocate. He serves as Head of Research at Excellence Nessuah Investment House Ltd and is a senior economist and analyst. Previously, he was a member of Israel's National Economic Council and the advisory committee to the Minister of Finance. Politically, he was a top candidate on the Zehut party list for the 2019 Knesset elections, placing third and designated as the candidate for Finance Minister. In September 2019, he endorsed Ayelet Shaked's Yamina party. Alper founded and led libertarian parties, including the Freedom Party (Hofesh) and Ozma Liberalit-Kalkalit, which garnered 3,781 votes in the 2020 elections. He champions deregulation, free markets, adult cannabis legalization, and reduced government intervention in the economy and personal lives.
