About
George Farmer is a British conservative activist, entrepreneur, and media executive, best known as the CEO of the social media platform Parler, which positions itself as a free-speech alternative to mainstream platforms and is known for its role in alternative right-wing discourse. Born in 1989 to Michael Farmer, Baron Farmer—a prominent financier and Conservative peer in the House of Lords—Farmer grew up in a politically influential family in London. He was educated at St Paul's School in London before attending the University of Oxford, where he studied Philosophy, Politics, and Economics (PPE) and became actively involved in conservative student politics through the Oxford University Conservative Association. After graduating around 2011, Farmer entered the business world, co-founding Turning Point UK in 2017, a youth organization aimed at promoting conservative values and affiliated with the American Turning Point USA founded by Charlie Kirk. In his personal life, Farmer married American conservative commentator Candace Owens in 2019 in a ceremony attended by prominent right-wing figures. The couple has since had three children and relocated to the United States, where they reside primarily in Tennessee. Professionally, he took on the role of CEO of Parler in 2022, following the platform's deplatforming after the January 6, 2021, U.S. Capitol riot and subsequent acquisition by new investors. Farmer's career also includes entrepreneurial ventures in finance and media, leveraging his family's connections in the City of London. He has been a vocal supporter of Brexit and traditional conservative causes, including opposition to abortion and advocacy for free-market policies. While not holding elected office, his roles in Turning Point UK and Parler place him at the intersection of transatlantic conservative networks, influencing youth mobilization and alternative media landscapes.
