The Fisher House Foundation, Inc. is an international 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization founded in 1990 by philanthropists Zachary Fisher (1910-1999) and Elizabeth M. Fisher (1913-2004). It operates a network of over 100 comfort homes in the United States, Germany (Landstuhl), and the United Kingdom (Birmingham), partnering with the Veterans Health Administration and military medical centers to provide free lodging for families of active-duty service members, veterans, and their families during medical treatment. As of recent data, it has served more than 570,000 families, providing over 13.4 million days of lodging and saving families $690 million. Additional programs include scholarships such as the Heroes' Legacy Scholarship and the Fisher Service Award, which has distributed over $2.75 million since 1999.
