About
The Euro-Asian Jewish Congress is a regional affiliate of the World Jewish Congress (WJC) representing Jewish communities across Euro-Asian countries, including post-Soviet states such as Russia, Ukraine, Kazakhstan, and communities in Central Asia. It functions as a regional federation under the WJC umbrella for Europe and Asia. Formed initially in 1991-1993 as a Euro-Asian section of the WJC following the integration of Jewish organizations from the collapsed Soviet Union, it was formally created as a congress in 2002 by initiatives from the Kazakhstan Jewish Congress, Federation of Jewish Organizations and Communities of Russia (Vaad Russia), and Association of Jewish Organizations. The Congress promotes Jewish unity, supports Jewish education and spiritual life, protects the rights and interests of Jewish communities, and assists Holocaust survivors and families with compensation claims and restoration of confiscated property.
