Erel N. Margalit (born January 1, 1961) is an Israeli entrepreneur, venture capitalist, and former politician. He founded Jerusalem Venture Partners (JVP) in 1993, a prominent global venture capital firm focused on technology investments in cybersecurity, enterprise software, and communications. As founder and Executive Chairman of JVP, he has built a significant portfolio of Israeli startups, establishing himself as a key figure in Israel's high-tech ecosystem. He also founded Margalit Startup City, an initiative to foster innovation and entrepreneurship in Jerusalem. Beyond business, Margalit is a social entrepreneur who founded non-profit organizations including Bakehila (promoting community involvement and social welfare) and the Israel Initiative 2020 (developing regions of excellence integrating technology and education).
