About
Ephraim Shore is a Canadian-Israeli-American Orthodox rabbi, Jewish educator, documentary filmmaker, non-profit executive, media producer, pro-Israel advocate, and licensed tour guide residing in Jerusalem. He received rabbinical ordination at Aish HaTorah in Jerusalem after university studies and has held key leadership roles within the organization, including establishing its branch in South Florida, serving as Executive Director of Aish HaTorah Toronto (overseeing construction of community centers), and positions in New York and other North American locations before returning to leadership in Jerusalem. He co-founded Hasbara Fellowships and the Jerusalem Fellowships program for student visitors to Israel, and served as President of HonestReporting, a media monitoring organization addressing biased coverage of Israel. Shore has played significant roles in building Aish HaTorah's international presence and founding media watchdog and educational programs, bridging religious education and political advocacy on Middle Eastern security and the ideological foundations of extremist movements.
He is best known for his central role in the Clarion Project (formerly Clarion Fund), a nonprofit dedicated to exposing threats from radical Islam through media, where he has produced high-profile documentaries including 'Obsession: Radical Islam's War Against the West' (2005), which gained attention with approximately 28 million DVD copies distributed to voters in swing states ahead of the 2008 U.S. presidential election, and 'The Third Jihad: Radical Islam's Vision for America' (2008). Other projects include 'Homegrown Jihad' and support for Clarion's campaigns. His involvement stems from family ties, as he is the twin brother of Raphael Shore, the organization's founder and president. His work aligns with counter-jihad and counter-extremism advocacy, positioning Clarion and related networks as key players in conservative and pro-Israel circles influencing public discourse on Islamism.
Currently, he works at Aish HaTorah Jerusalem, operates as a licensed tour guide, and contributes articles on Jewish themes and Israel to platforms like Aish.com and The Times of Israel.
Shore is married to Miriam Shore, with whom he has children and grandchildren. His father is Marvin Shore, a Canadian politician, and his siblings include twin brother Raphael Shore and older brother David Shore, an Emmy Award-winning television producer and creator of the series 'House'.
His productions and associated organizations have sparked controversy: critics, including the Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR), have labeled them Islamophobic and fear-inciting, while supporters view them as essential exposés of radical Islamist threats; the films' distribution methods have faced scrutiny from campaign finance watchdogs, though no formal legal violations were found.
