Elisabeth Murdoch (born 22 August 1968 in Sydney, Australia) is an Australian-born British and American media executive. She is the eldest daughter of media tycoon Rupert Murdoch from his second marriage to Anna Murdoch Mann and grew up in a prominent media family. After graduating from Vassar College in Poughkeepsie, New York, she began her career in the family business as a manager of programme acquisitions at FX Networks, a cable television unit of News Corporation in Los Angeles. She later moved to London, holding executive positions at her father's companies, including BSkyB and Star TV in Hong Kong, before founding her own production company, Shine Group (also known as Shine Productions or Shine TV), in 2001. The company specialized in reality TV formats, producing hits like 'MasterChef' and 'The Biggest Loser'. In 2011, Shine was sold to News Corporation for approximately $415 million, and Murdoch served as its non-executive chairperson until 2015, when 21st Century Fox merged Shine with Endemol and Core Media under Apollo Global Management. She has also served as a non-executive director at News Corp. Following the sale, she stepped back from major corporate roles but remained active in the industry. In October 2019, she co-founded SISTER, a global content company focused on developing, producing, and investing in premium scripted and unscripted content, alongside Stacey Snider and Jane Featherstone.
