About
Edward Phillip Roski Jr. (born December 25, 1938) is an American billionaire real estate developer and philanthropist based in Los Angeles, California. He is the president and chairman of the board of Majestic Realty Co., a major industrial real estate firm he inherited and expanded from his father's business. Roski served as an officer in the United States Marine Corps from 1962 to 1966, including deployment to Vietnam, where he earned a Bronze Star for bravery and two Purple Hearts for wounds sustained in combat. After his military service, he built Majestic Realty into a powerhouse, leading developments such as the Staples Center (now Crypto.com Arena) in downtown Los Angeles and overseeing nationwide expansion, including large industrial facilities in California and Arizona. Roski is also a prominent sports investor, serving as a minority owner of the Los Angeles Lakers, Los Angeles Kings, and co-owner of the Los Angeles Rams NFL team, with professional partnerships including Philip Anschutz. He earned his undergraduate degree from the University of Southern California (USC), where he met his future wife, Gayle. The couple has been active in philanthropy, notably announcing a $25 million gift in 2016 to endow an eye institute at a university. Under Roski's leadership, Majestic Realty has focused on industrial and commercial properties, contributing to his status as one of the wealthiest individuals in real estate. His background in a modest immigrant Polish family underscores his rise through business acumen and military discipline, making him a key figure in Southern California's economic landscape.
