Dov S. Zakheim is an American economist, businessman, writer, and former government official, widely recognized for his contributions to U.S. defense policy. He served as Under Secretary of Defense (Comptroller) and Chief Financial Officer for the Department of Defense from 2001 to 2004 in the George W. Bush administration. Earlier, during the Reagan administration, he held various positions in the Department of Defense, including Deputy Under Secretary of Defense for Strategy, Plans, and Forces. He was a member of "The Vulcans," the group of foreign policy advisors to George W. Bush's 2000 presidential campaign. Zakheim is a senior advisor at the Center for Strategic and International Studies (CSIS); his career spans government, business, and academia, with a focus on national security, defense finance, and international relations.
