Carl Douglas 'Doug' McMillon is an American businessman who has served as President and CEO of Walmart Inc. since February 2014. He began his career with Walmart in 1984 as a summer associate and hourly warehouse worker, rising through various roles including buyer, President and CEO of Sam's Club (2005-2009), and head of Walmart International (2009-2014) before assuming his current position. Born on October 17, 1966, in Memphis, Tennessee, he grew up in Jonesboro, Arkansas, and later moved to Bentonville, Arkansas—Walmart's headquarters city—at age 16. McMillon holds a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from the University of Arkansas (1989) and an MBA from the University of Tulsa (1991). As CEO, he has led Walmart's transformation toward a people-led, tech-powered omnichannel retail model, emphasizing associate wages, benefits, education (including a debt-free college program), and sustainability initiatives such as Project Gigaton to reduce supply chain emissions. He serves on several boards, including the Business Roundtable and the U.S.-China Business Council, and draws on his Christian faith in leadership. McMillon is married to Shelly, has two sons, and resides in Bentonville, Arkansas.
