About
Dial Global, Inc. was an American radio network and syndication company that specialized in distributing programming to radio stations across the United States. Founded in 1997 through the consolidation of several independent syndication firms, including RKO Radio Networks and Jones Radio Network remnants, it grew into a major industry player. The company offered a wide range of content including news services (CNN Radio, AP Radio), talk shows, sports broadcasts (NFL, NBA, MLB), music formats, and traffic/weather updates. By the late 2000s, it served over 8,000 stations and reached millions of listeners daily, known for its innovative satellite technology and adaptation to digital media shifts. In 2011, Dial Global acquired Westwood One for approximately $250 million, operating under that brand afterward. In September 2013, Cumulus Media acquired Dial Global for $260 million, fully integrating it into its operations and effectively absorbing the company, with Westwood One continuing as the surviving brand for national programming distribution. This acquisition was part of broader industry consolidation amid declining ad revenues and streaming competition. Post-acquisition, Dial Global's legacy continued through Cumulus Media's Westwood One division.
