Derrick Francis Van Orden (born September 15, 1969) is an American politician, businessperson, actor, and retired United States Navy SEAL serving as the U.S. Representative for Wisconsin's 3rd congressional district since 2023. A member of the Republican Party, he joined the Navy at age 18, underwent SEAL training, served with SEAL Team FOUR at Naval Amphibious Base Little Creek, Virginia, and rose to the rank of Navy SEAL Senior Chief over a 26-year career that included multiple combat tours. Van Orden is a staunch ally of former President Donald Trump and was involved in the events of January 6, 2021, at the U.S. Capitol. Prior to entering politics, he pursued acting and business interests, attended law school (though did not complete a degree), and appeared in conservative media productions. In 2022, he defeated Democratic incumbent Ron Kind to win election to Congress, where he has focused on Republican priorities such as national security and traditional values, receiving significant financial support from major donors including Richard Uihlein.
