In 1969, Dean Acheson and Paul Nitze established the Committee to Maintain a Prudent Defense Policy to lobby Congress for the antiballistic missile system. Albert Wohlstetter arranged for the young Wolfowitz to join this committee alongside Richard Perle, placing the 26-year-old Wolfowitz in direct collaboration with one of the greatest Cold War statesmen.
