David John Lesar (born May 30, 1953) is an American businessman and Certified Public Accountant renowned for his extensive career in the energy and oilfield services sectors. He began his career at Arthur Andersen, where he spent 16 years primarily working on the Halliburton account, gaining deep expertise in the company's operations. In 1995, he joined Halliburton as a vice president and rose rapidly, becoming CEO in 2000. He served as CEO for 17 years until 2017 and as Chairman from 2003 to 2019, overseeing significant expansions, major acquisitions, and navigating complex global operations in the oilfield services industry. Following his departure from Halliburton, Lesar continued to take on leadership roles in prominent energy firms. On July 24, 2019, he was named interim CEO of Health Care Service Corporation (HCSC). Subsequently, on June 30, 2020, he became President and CEO of CenterPoint Energy. Most recently, on August 15, 2024, he was appointed Chairman of the Board of Directors and Chief Executive Officer of Superior Energy Services, effective August 19, 2024.
