Douglas Feith is the father of David Feith, his second son, and previously served in the George W. Bush Administration. David Feith graduated from Columbia University and worked as an editorial writer and op-ed editor at The Wall Street Journal, based in New York from 2010 to 2013 and in Hong Kong from 2013 to 2017. He also served as an assistant editor at Foreign Affairs. He was appointed Deputy Assistant Secretary of State for East Asian and Pacific Affairs from 2017 to 2021, where he helped create the U.S. Indo-Pacific Strategy. He later served on the Trump Administration's National Security Council as Senior Director for national security and technology from January to April 2025 before being fired, reportedly after far-right activist Laura Loomer urged Trump to remove certain NSC staff. He is currently a senior fellow at the Hudson Institute and a partner at Garnaut Global LLC. He has co-authored articles with his father and serves on the Vandenberg Coalition advisory board.
