Cristle Collins Judd is an American academic administrator and musicologist, currently serving as the president of Sarah Lawrence College in Bronxville, New York, a position she has held since 2021. Originally from Texas, Judd has built a distinguished career in higher education, specializing in musicology and music theory. She earned degrees in music performance and musicology at the Shepherd School of Music at Rice University, then obtained advanced degrees in music theory at King's College London, including a PhD with a dissertation on the 16th-century Italian composer and theorist Gioseffo Zarlino. Her early career included faculty positions at the University of Melbourne in Australia and the University of Exeter in England. From 2006 to 2015, she served as Dean for Academic Affairs and Professor of Music at Bowdoin College in Maine, where she oversaw faculty, curriculum, academic programs, libraries, museums, and related support services as the chief academic officer. She then joined the Andrew W. Mellon Foundation as a senior program officer for Higher Education and Scholarship in the Humanities, focusing on initiatives in academia and the arts. In 2017, she transitioned to Sarah Lawrence College as its provost before ascending to the presidency. Throughout her career, Judd has been recognized for her contributions to music scholarship and administrative leadership in liberal arts education.
