About
Richard Clay Travis (born April 6, 1979, in Nashville, Tennessee) is an American sports journalist, lawyer, radio host, and conservative political pundit. Raised in Nashville, he earned a bachelor's degree in history from George Washington University in 2001 while working as a student basketball manager, then graduated from Vanderbilt University Law School in 2004. After practicing law in the U.S. Virgin Islands and Tennessee, he transitioned to sports journalism in 2005, writing for CBS Sports, Deadspin, and FanHouse. In 2011, he founded OutKick, a digital media company focused on sports, politics, and pop culture, which was acquired by Fox Corporation in 2021. Travis is known for his provocative commentary on sports, culture, and politics, and has worked as a television analyst for Fox Sports. In 2021, he became co-host of the nationally syndicated radio program The Clay Travis and Buck Sexton Show, broadcast by Westwood One, where he blends sports analysis with conservative political commentary. His unfiltered opinions and criticism of progressive policies and mainstream media have made him a prominent figure in right-leaning sports journalism.
