About
Christopher Wylie is a British-Canadian data consultant and whistleblower, widely recognized for his pivotal role in exposing the Facebook–Cambridge Analytica data scandal. As a former director of research at Cambridge Analytica, he exposed the firm's misuse of Facebook data for political purposes by releasing a cache of documents to The Guardian, and his testimony regarding data harvesting contributed to the downfall of the firm's CEO, Alexander Nix. This revelation triggered multiple government investigations globally and brought to light significant concerns about data privacy, the unchecked power of Big Tech companies, and the vulnerability of Western democracies to disinformation campaigns. Wylie's disclosures made him a prominent figure in the discourse surrounding data ethics and digital democracy. His impact was acknowledged by Time magazine, which included him in its 100 Most Influential People of 2018. He also appeared in the 2019 documentary 'The Great Hack'. Beyond his whistleblower activities, Wylie has continued his career in data and technology, currently serving as the head of insight and emerging technologies at H&M.
