Christoph Wolfram Blocher, born on 11 October 1940 in Schaffhausen, Switzerland, is a Swiss industrialist, billionaire businessman, and politician. After attending state schools and completing an agricultural apprenticeship, he earned his Matura and studied at university as a working student. He joined the legal department of Ems-Chemie AG (formerly Emser Werke AG) in 1969, acquired a majority of its shares, and became president and board representative of Ems-Chemie Holding AG in 1984, amassing significant wealth. The company is now managed by his daughter, Magdalena Martullo-Blocher. A key figure in the right-wing Swiss People's Party (SVP/UDC), Blocher was politically active from his student days and served as its former leader. He served as a Member of the Swiss Federal Council from 2004 to 2007, heading the Federal Department of Justice and Police. His career evolved into media influence, acquiring outlets to advance populist discourse alongside his business and political roles.
