Charles Spies, often referred to as Charlie Spies, is a prominent and highly regarded election law attorney with nearly two decades of experience in national Republican political organizations and campaigns. A 1998 graduate of Georgetown University Law Center (L'98), he served as election law counsel to the Republican National Committee, Chief Financial Officer and Counsel for Mitt Romney's 2008 presidential campaign—where he managed the national budget and ensured compliance with Federal Election Commission, IRS, and state regulations—and as legal and policy advisor to FEC Chairman Darryl Ruckman. He is the co-founder of the Restore Our Future super PAC and was named Republican Lawyer of the Year in 2023. Spies practices political, election, and First Amendment law at Dickinson Wright PLLC, where he has held roles such as outside counsel and CFO for the Republican Governors Association.
