About
Charles 'Charlie' Fleitz is a national security official and longtime associate of John Bolton. He began his career as an intelligence analyst at the Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) from 1989 to 1992, focusing on arms control, nuclear proliferation, and the Soviet Union. He subsequently served as a professional staff member on the House Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence, as well as at the U.S. State Department Bureau of Intelligence and Research and the Defense Intelligence Agency. From 2017 to 2018, he was staff director for the House Intelligence Committee under Chairman Devin Nunes. Fleitz served as chief of staff at the National Security Council under Trump, followed by his role as executive director of the Center for Security Policy from 2018 to 2020 and briefly as principal deputy to Acting Director of National Intelligence Richard Grenell in 2020. He later became senior vice president for intelligence and national security at the America First Policy Institute and has been a frequent commentator on Fox News advocating hawkish foreign policies, particularly against Iran and China. Fleitz has been criticized by some for promoting conspiracy theories, including claims related to the Russia investigation and the Steele dossier, during his time on the Nunes committee. He is associated with neoconservative and America First circles, authoring books like 'Shadow War: Iran and Proxy Wars in Syria' (2021). No major legal controversies or financial disclosures are publicly documented beyond standard government ethics filings.
